Lingiari

The federal electorate of Lingiari, located in the Northern Territory, is one of Australia's largest and most diverse electorates, covering over 1.3 million square kilometres. It includes the entirety of the NT outside of Darwin and its surrounds, encompassing remote communities, Indigenous lands, and iconic landmarks such as Uluru and Kakadu National Park. Lingiari has a significant Indigenous population, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples making up a substantial proportion of its electorate. Established in 2001, it is named after Vincent Lingiari, a Gurindji man and land rights activist. The electorate is known for its strong focus on Indigenous issues, remote community development, and environmental conservation. It is currently held by the Australian Labor Party (ALP), reflecting its historical alignment with progressive policies.
