GRANVILLE

In 1831, Granville, NSW, was a fledgling settlement located in the broader Cumberland Plain, west of Sydney. At this time, the area was primarily rural, characterized by rolling farmland and sparse population, as European settlers continued to expand and cultivate the land. Granville later developed into a significant suburb, known for its industrial and residential growth, particularly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. However, in 1831, it was still in its early stages of European settlement, with the land largely used for agriculture and pastoral purposes.
